Location: HMP Isle of Wight
Salary: Up to £20,343 per annum (£38,144 FTE) dependent on skills and experience
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:15 – 12:15), 52 weeks per year

We are seeking a Painting & Decorating Lecturer to join a dedicated prison education team at HMP Isle of Wight. The Role

As a Painting & Decorating Lecturer, you will deliver City & Guilds Painting & Decorating qualifications at Levels 1 and 2 to learners within a prison environment.

You will play a key role in motivating and supporting learners, helping them achieve qualifications while developing the life skills and confidence needed to succeed in employment and further learning opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and practical Painting & Decorating lessons.
  • Preparing lesson plans, learning resources and assessment materials.
  • Tracking learner progress and setting SMART targets.
  • Assessing learner work and providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintaining accurate learner records and documentation.
  • Supporting learners with varying abilities and educational backgrounds.
  • Promoting high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with prison and education colleagues to achieve positive learner outcomes.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Strong Painting & Decorating industry experience.
  • Relevant vocational qualification in Painting & Decorating or Construction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for supporting and developing others.
  • Ability to motivate learners from a variety of backgrounds.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent.
  • Assessing or Internal Quality Assurance qualifications.
  • Experience delivering accredited vocational qualifications.
  • Previous teaching, coaching, mentoring or training experience.

Candidates without a teaching qualification are encouraged to apply, as support may be available to achieve relevant teaching qualifications.
